Chris W.K. Fetzer
Senior Associate
Mr. Fetzer's practice focuses on defense, finance, health care, and tax matters.
Prior to joining Haake & Associates, while in law school, he worked as a Fellow with the Government Relations, Advocacy, and Strategy practice group in the Washington, D.C. office of an international law firm. Mr. Fetzer drafted client comments on federal agency proposed regulations; provided research and analysis to assist clients with appropriations matters, legislative and regulatory strategies, and issue positioning; and drafted legislative proposals, analyses, and summaries.
Before law school, he worked as a Trade and Export Advisor for a boutique law firm in the D.C. area. Mr. Fetzer advised companies in the defense, aerospace, and high technology industries and foreign governments on trade and export control compliance matters related to the Department of Commerce's Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the Department of State's International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Additionally, he served on the legislative staff of U.S. Senator Elizabeth H. Dole, a former member of the Senate Committee on Armed Services and Senate Leadership. During his tenure on Capitol Hill, Mr. Fetzer was responsible for a portfolio consisting of defense, homeland security, foreign affairs, and veterans' issues. Among other duties, he prepared background briefs, statements, and questions for committee hearings, made vote recommendations, and advised the Senator on legislative and policy initiatives.
Mr. Fetzer holds a Juris Doctor degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Dickinson College. He is currently pursuing a Master of Professional Studies degree in Sports Business, Management, and Operations at Georgetown University. In college, Mr. Fetzer was captain of the Men's Lacrosse team. While in law school, he served as Legislation Editor on the Journal of Energy, Climate, and the Environment.
Mr. Fetzer is licensed to practice law in Virginia.
A native Washingtonian, he resides in Washington, D.C. with his wife.
